French language skills certification
Graduation ceremonies are important and significant moments for our students and their teachers.
Yesterday December 8th, 25 primary school students and 18 secondary school students received their diplomas from Sylvaine Lopitaux, FSL teacher, Catherine Verbrugghe, Primary School Director and Françoise Bougaeff, Deputy Head of School, who gave a very inspiring speech below:
“With every DELF exam you pass you are becoming a more and more competent certified bilingual. Not only does it say that you speak French at an A2 or B1 level, but it also says that you are strong thinkers, great learners and courageous adventurers who keep pushing the limits of the world as they know it.
One of my favorite philosophers, Ludwig Wittgenstein once said “The limits of my language are the limits of my world.” Thinking in 2 languages makes your world so much bigger, your ability to reflect so much wider and your creativity so much more colorful. It takes you to another world that at first may feel very unfamiliar and maybe even scary, but that quickly becomes more and more homy, to the point where it can actually become your own.”
At LFT, the FSL program is offered from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Each student can, depending on his or her needs or interests, follow the FSL path or the International Section path and thus strengthen his or her skills in both languages.
Thank you to the wonderful FLS teachers Lucie Deniau, Sylvaine Lopitaux and Marion Villemagne for their guidance and for getting our students ready to pass this certification.
