1. Does my child need to speak French to apply to LFT?

Not in Kindergarten. Our PreK, JK, and SK classes welcome non-French-speaking children. To apply for Grade 1, students must be able to speak and understand French. Applicants for Grades 2-12 must be able to speak, read, and write in French.

LFT provides four bus lines with several pick-up points in Toronto. Consult this document https://www.lft.ca/sites/default/files/2024-07/LFT_20242025_SchoolBusTransportation_EN.pdf for more information or contact admissions@lft.ca

LFT offers a hot lunch service delivered to LFT by Kids Cuisine Santé.

LFT welcomes students in all grades and operates on a rolling admissions basis, depending on space availability.

Not at all! Many of our families do not speak French. All LFT teachers and staff speak English and can respond to any questions in both French and English. All school communications are sent in both French and English.
Several of our students speak a third language at home, and we are proud of and cherish this linguistic and cultural diversity.

Our students graduate with the Baccalauréat français or Baccalauréat français International (BFI) at the end of Grade 12. We do not offer the Ontario curriculum, so no OSSD is provided. The French Baccalaureate is recognized and highly valued by universities in Canada and the US. At LFT, homework reinforces concepts already learned and practiced in the classroom. Students are never required to learn new skills or lessons at home. Primary school students (Grades 1-5) can enroll in the “study hall” where they can do homework at school under a french-speaking teacher's supervision.

LFT follows the curriculum of the French Ministry of Education.

All subjects are taught in French by native French-speaking teachers.

English is taught from PreK onwards by native English-speaking teachers. Gym classes are in English in Grades 1-5 and the Performing Arts program is taught in English in Grades 1-9.

Starting in Grade 6, students may choose to enroll in the Section Internationale Américaine program, which allows them to deepen their knowledge of English language and literature and have half of the History-Geography class in English.

Starting in Grade 6 and until Grade 12, all students study Spanish.

At LFT, we welcome many new students each year from both Toronto and abroad. Our community is excited to greet new friends and help them settle in. Our Vie Scolaire team, consisting of several dedicated educators, focuses specifically on the integration and well-being of new students. They provide support and create opportunities for newcomers to connect with their peers, ensuring a smooth and welcoming transition.
