“Why choose the Lycée Français de Toronto? Will the LFT be a good fit for my child? Can you tell me more about the school, the curriculum, your values?”
When it comes to choose a school for your child, we know there are many questions. Our Admissions team is here to assist you in your decision and guide you through the admission process. You will find many information on our website, and whenever you are ready, we are just a phone call/email away! Let’s chat!
Come and visit us!
We organize Open House events three times a year (in October, January and March). It is a great opportunity to visit LFT, meet our teachers and our students. The admissions team is also available to schedule an individual visit at your convenience and help you discover the Lycée.
LFT has a rolling admissions process and accepts mid-year enrollment if space is available.
Online application
Families who are interested in applying to LFT are invited to complete an online application on our admissions portal. Your application package is complete once you:
- fill out the forms
- upload the birth certificate
- upload the most recent report cards (for applicants in SK-Grade 12)
- pay $300 non refundable application fee
Application and placement test
Upon receipt of the complete application, our Admissions Committee will review your child's application.
For children currently enrolled in a school accredited by the French Ministry of Education, the decision is usually communicated within 4 days.
If your child is attending another school, he/she will be invited to participate in a discovery time (for entry into Kindergarten) or a placement test (for Grades 1 to 12). The decision is then communicated within one week of the test.
Admission in Kindergarten (Pre-K, JK, SK)
Discovery time (30 mins) is a play-and-learn interaction with one of our kindergarten teachers. This assessment will be conducted in the applicant’s preferred language (French or English).
*Candidates for PreK class have to be potty trained
Admission in Grades 1 to 12
Admissions tests for Grades 1-12 are assessments of French language skills.
Grade 1 candidates have to be able to understand and speak french. No reading or writing skills are required.
For candidates applying in Grades 2-12, both written and oral French skills will be assessed.
Decision and registration
Admissions decisions will be communicated via email within a week of the discovery time/admissions test. Spaces for admitted students will be held until the deadline date provided in the Letter of Admission.
Registration is complete when:
- parents have signed the contract electronically,
- a deposit on tuition fees has been paid (non-refundable).
