Cursive writing: a scientific choice
We introduce cursive writing in the early years because research shows it supports:
- fine motor development
- hand–eye coordination
- reading fluency
- memorization of letter forms
- cognitive connections between sound, movement, and meaning
Cursive helps children write with ease and read with accuracy, giving them a strong foundation for bilingual literacy.
Learning through experience: arts, creativity, exploration
Children grow through hands-on, sensory-rich experiences:
- drawing, painting, crafting
- storytelling and drama
- music, rhythm, and singing
- building, designing, experimenting
These experiences strengthen imagination, coordination, and emotional expression, all essential parts of early learning.
Movement every day: sport, dance, and motor skills
In early childhood, movement is learning.
At the Lycée, children experience:
- daily motor skills sessions
- structured physical education appropriate for their age
- dancing, balancing, jumping, running
- play-based outdoor time
Physical activity supports cognitive growth, emotional regulation, and self-confidence.
Strong academic foundations, from Primary school onward
In Primary school, curiosity is paired with rigorous, structured academic learning.
Students build strong foundations in mathematics – calculation, reasoning, and geometry – learning to understand, explain, and solve problems rather than simply apply procedures.
In French, they progressively develop reading fluency, spelling, grammar, and verb conjugation, while learning to write with clarity, precision, and confidence.
Science, history, and geography nurture intellectual curiosity: observing, questioning, experimenting, understanding the natural and human world, and situating events in time and space.
This coherent progression, rooted in the French curriculum, respects each child’s development while laying the essential academic foundations for the rest of their learning journey.
A structured English program, from language acquisition to advanced learning
From Primary school onward, students follow a structured English program adapted to their language profile, whether they are learning English as a second language or progressing in an advanced pathway.
The ESL track (English as Second Language) supports students in building strong foundations in vocabulary, comprehension, and oral expression, enabling them to gain confidence and fluency in English.
In the advanced program, English classes go beyond language skills to include the study of Canadian history, as well as broader perspectives on North American history and culture, including the United States.
Through reading, writing, discussion, and inquiry-based projects, students deepen their understanding of the society and cultural context in which they live, strengthening both their academic English and their bicultural awareness.
