French School Placement Test
Placement tests at LFT are standard exams that challenge a student’s ability in a range of subjects. As soon as your application form has been received, we’ll schedule the tests in February and results will be sent in March.
How Placement Tests Work
Registration for Early Pre-K to Pre-K
Parents, along with their children, will first get an interview with the Primary School principal. Once parents receive their acceptance letter, tuition fees are due. Early Pre-K and Pre-K children do not need any previous knowledge of French to be accepted, but they must be toilet trained.
Registration for JK and SK
The children are invited to participate in class activities for half a day at school. This visit will be scheduled in the child’s current Grade when registering at the LFT.
Registration for classes from Grade 1 to Grade 5
Students will be assessed in French and Math in a 30-to 90-minute test. Please bring school supplies including a ruler, a compass, a protractor, a flat angle bracket, etc. is then required for Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5 students.
Registration for Junior High School and High School
Students will be assessed in English and French (oral and written test) and Math. Please bring school supplies including a ruler, a compass, a protractor, a flat angle bracket, etc.
There is a $150 fee for all placement tests – cheque payable to the Lycée Français de Toronto.
